I used to work in a mail-room at Cornell. I had access to huige quantities of rubber-bands, so I made a rubber-band ball that was about eight inches in diameter and as heavy as a bowling ball. I stationed some friends at the bottom entrance of my dorn -- to make sure nobody left the building during the drop. When I dropped the ball from the tenth floor. I assumed the ball would drop straight dow, but I watched as (to my horror) the ball drifted from its course toward the railins of the lower balconies. If the ball hit a railing, it would almost certainly have bounced into a crowded parking lot. It would have easily killed a person, and would at least cause major damage to a vehicle. Fortunately, the ball stopped its drift. My friends said that when it hit the ground, there was a blizzard of snapping bands. The ball got to around the fourth story on its first rebound, before flipping onto a lawn.
