a note on dangers...

While I, too, have explored the attraction of the pavement for items that used to be in my hand - from a 13th floor window, I should mention what happened when a waterballoon was dropped out the 13th floor window by a kid on the other side of the building... he smashed the window of a taxi, and not only was the whole window smashed, but there was a nice concave recess that showed the shape of the waterballoon when it impacted the windshield. (If the driver was in the car, the windshield would have hit his head.) So keep in mind that objects dropped out of windows at that height can be very dangerous. At my side of the hotel, I had an empty parking lot. I discovered that Reeses Pieces bounced several times when dropped from 13 floors. A can of coke lost about 1/5 of its size when it came to a sudden stop. Ice cubes made a quiet splat. And a one gallon paper bucket (like the ones you get from Kentucky Fried Chicken) when filled with water - made a marvelous explosion when it hit the pavement. It didn't take long to clean up the mess I made, although I never found the Reeses Pieces.
